あいの風とやま鉄道は２０１５年３月１４日北陸新幹線開業により
並行在来線となる富山県内の北陸本線、石動から越中宮崎間の経営を
引き継ぎ開業しました。車両もＪＲ西日本より引き継いだ５２１系と
４１３系が活躍しています。この４１３系は、新製した車体に急行形
電車４７１・４７３系の機器を流用し１９８６年に登場、あいの風と
やま鉄道へは、５編成が譲渡されています。駅間の長いこの路線を高
速走行で、ＭＴ５４系のモータを唸らせて快走する４１３系の走行音
をお楽しみ下さい。

急行「きのくに」は、当時、天王寺駅から白浜駅や新宮方面を結ぶ
列車で、キハ５８形気動車で運行されていました。またこの列車の一
部には、南海電気鉄道の難波駅発の車両もあり、国鉄車両と南海車両
の併結運転もありました。また夜行列車「きのくに２２号」も季節列
車で運転され、普通列車「はやたま」と共に夜の輸送を担っていまし
た。そして昭和６０年３月ダイヤ改正で、特急「くろしお」に格上げ
されその役目を終えました。
また、増発した「くろしお」には、４８５系が充当され、分割・併合
運転を行うため、サハ４８１、４８９を貫通型先頭車に改造したクハ
４８０が登場しました。紀勢本線での活躍は、３８１系に比べ、所要
時間か掛かり、わずか１年半で３８１系に置き換えられました。今で
は見られない紀勢本線での活躍をお楽しみください。

こどもの国線７２００系は、こどもの国線専用車で平成元年まで活躍し、
その後事業用車に改造され、今回展示されていたデヤ７２００として、
平成２４年まで活躍していました。
